Or spending a long way an excessive amount of time being concerned approximately stuff you can’t swap? Or residing for the long run, no longer for at the present time? fact is, all of us do — and all of us realize that usually our methods of pondering simply aren’t efficient. in terms of our day-by-day lives, we regularly giggle off behavior like procrastination as being human nature and simply unravel to technique issues otherwise subsequent time. On the other hand, particular conditions of task orientation used in this study may make the subject less defensive. Under these conditions the subject may feel un pleasantness due to failure more intensely than pleasantness due to success as he tries to recognize and overcome his failures without caring much for his successes. These considerations lead to the following specific hypotheses: 1. Under task-orientation, unpleasantness of a task due to failure will be perceived as more intense than pleasantness of a task due to success.

Table 8 presents the comparisons between the mean intensities of perceived affect of retained and nonretained items. Such comparisons are shown separately for recall and recognition and for P and U puzzles in each group. For each comparison the mean intensity of affect of retained items is higher than that of nonretained items. Except in one case, the observed differences are statistically significant. The data in Table 8 clearly support hypothesis 4. Discussion Retention of success and failure experiences seems to be a function of the perceived intensity of their pleasant and unpleasant affects, respectively.

Materials and procedure.
